French Days are not the new Black Friday. While sales are up nearly 50% compared to usual e-commerce days, this is to compare to +90% for the back-to-school edition of the French Days (held at the end of September 2019) and especially +290% for Black Friday (average of the week around Black Friday including the Black week and the Cyber Monday). But still, the boost is worth the effort in these post-lockdown days.
Surprisingly, not all the winners made the efforts though: Vinted and Zalando slip into the top 5 even though they are not officially participating in the event.
On the other hand, Amazon and especially Fnac, despite being a founding member of the French Days, is losing ground, driven by the slowdown in the market for cultural and IT products, which was so popular during the lockdown.
These French Days also mark an acceleration in the trend towards the recovery of categories affected during the lockdown period, such as fashion, home, car parts, or electronics.
